Resiliency: Many organisations have a main connection supported by a dormant back-up connection for resiliency. At CI-Net we have a different approach. We recommend a primary and secondary connection configured such that both are used all the time for day-to-day business activity. We do this by utilising the patented capabilities of the StoneGate routers that can balance the traffic across multiple links. These can be of different bandwidths and can be from multiple ISPs. Thus it is possible to load balance a leased line form a 3rd party ISP with a RedKite link from CI-Net. The load balancing StoneGate will automatically switch over to the live link in the event of an outage. The load will automatically rebalance once the outage has been rectified.
Flexibility: Combine a high bandwidth symmetrical circuit supported with a DSL circuit or combine two equal or similar services. The optimal mix of circuits will be determined by how critical it is to keep the site live, and by data volumes. In many cases it will be sufficient to have a small secondary line that will keep data flowing, albeit slower, but resulting in a continuation of service.
Value For Money: By utilising both links in daily business activity you are maximising the return on the investment rather than having a connection sitting idle. An Active-Active configuration can eliminate the need for an expensive upgrade.
