When building a network, a site can be connected with several DSL connections, which means that cost of connection comes down, as instead of one high-cost/high capacity link, the same amount of traffic can be delivered with several lower-cost/lower-capacity links.
If one link fails, traffic is automatically redirected to one of the other active links.
